Wine tasting in Valdarno
The Valdarno, especially the Valdarno di Sopra DOC, is an excellent destination for wine tasting due to its centuries-old winemaking tradition—formally recognized since the 18th century—and its exceptional terroir.
Located between the Chianti hills and the Pratomagno mountains, the region benefits from unique soil (sand, limestone, and marl) and a favourable climate, resulting in high-quality, diverse wines. Producers excel with Sangiovese-based reds, famous "Super Tuscans" (often Merlot or Syrah), and fine white and sparkling varieties.
The overall experience is highly appealing, combining authentic hospitality and personalized tastings with the stunning scenery and historical charm of the Tuscan countryside.
Here are our suggestions:

The Balze of Valdarno are striking geological formations and a Local Interest Protected Natural Area located in Tuscany, between Florence and Arezzo. Shaped over millions of years by the erosion of stratified clay, sand, and gravel deposits from an ancient lake, they are recognized as a World Geological Heritage site. Leonardo da Vinci was inspired by these formations and depicted them in the backgrounds of several paintings, including what many scholars believe to be the Mona Lisa.
